Products Description
The ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium disc are flat, round components made from titanium metal or titanium alloys. Titanium is highly regarded for its high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent corrosion resistance and good biocompatibility.
Features
Excellent corrosion resistance
A dense titanium oxide protective film is naturally formed on the surface of titanium alloy, which effectively isolates external oxygen and moisture to prevent corrosion and oxidation. The oxide film is only a few nanometers thick, but it is extremely stable and can withstand a variety of extreme corrosive environments such as strong acids, strong alkalis and seawater.
Excellent high temperature resistance
The Titanium Disc can maintain good mechanical properties in environments up to 600°C. The high melting point (about 1668°C) and excellent high temperature strength of titanium alloy make it less likely to deform and degrade in high temperature conditions, ensuring long-term stable operation.
Excellent fatigue resistance
The ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium disc material has excellent fatigue resistance, with a fatigue limit of up to 550 MPa, and can withstand repeated alternating loads without cracking and breaking. At the same time, after special surface treatment, the hardness of titanium alloy can be increased to above HV400.

FAQ
Q: What is a ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium disc?
A: A ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium disc is a flat, circular component made from titanium or titanium alloy, used in various industries for its excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility.
Q: What are the common applications of titanium discs?
A: Titanium discs are used in aerospace, medical implants, automotive components, marine engineering, and chemical processing equipment due to their durability and resistance to extreme environments.
Q: What grades of titanium are typically used for discs?
A: Common grades include Grade 2 (commercially pure titanium) for corrosion resistance and Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) for high strength and light weight.
Q: Why is titanium preferred over other metals for medical discs?
A: Titanium is biocompatible, meaning it does not react with human tissues, making it ideal for medical implants such as spinal fusion discs, dental components, and bone plates.
Q: What are the advantages of using ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs in aerospace?
A: ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs offer high strength-to-weight ratio, resistance to fatigue, and tolerance to high temperatures, making them ideal for jet engines and structural components.
Q: Are titanium discs resistant to corrosion?
A: Yes, titanium naturally forms a passive oxide layer that resists corrosion from saltwater, chlorides, and many chemicals, making it highly suitable for marine and chemical applications.
Q: Can ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs be machined or welded?
A: Yes, but titanium requires specialized techniques and equipment due to its reactivity at high temperatures and potential for work hardening during machining.
Q: What is the typical thickness range for ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs?
A: ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs can range in thickness from a few millimeters to several centimeters, depending on the application and design requirements.
Q: How are titanium discs manufactured?
A: They are typically cut or stamped from titanium sheets or forged and machined to precise specifications, often followed by heat treatment or surface finishing.
Q: Are ASTMF136 GR5ELI titanium discs expensive?
A: Titanium is more expensive than many metals due to high extraction and processing costs, but its long service life, strength, and corrosion resistance often justify the investment.
